Long Beach State Puts Up School Top 10's On Final Day Of Beach Invitational

Seven meet records fell during the two-day competition

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State recorded a pair of school top 10 marks as the 28th Beach Invitational closed on Saturday at Jack Rose Track.

WOMEN
Hailey Fune' ran the second fastest 100m hurdles time in school history, 13.39, to finish third overall in a field of 65 entries.
Sofia Lavreshina lowered the seventh fastest all-time in school history in the 400m hurdles to 59.02. Lavreshina placed fourth as 52 runners took a time.Â
Charlotte O'Connor tied Jodi Lambert (2016) for the ninth-highest mark in the pole vault as she cleared 12-10. O'Connor tied for 11th during an event that saw 63 take an attempt.Â

MEN
Tristyn Flores moved to third in school history in the 100m when he ran 10.34. Flores finished 11th in the 90-man field.
Omri Shiff led the way for the Beach in the 400m hurdles, recording 52.52 for a second-place finish. Caleb Roberson followed suit, clocking 53.22 to secure third place. The 400m hurdles featured 33 entries.Â
The men's 4x400m relay of Anthony Coleman, Patrick Henderson, Mekhi Mays, and Justin Watterson finished second at 3:13.53.Â
Quinn Garity finished third in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.29, while Jay Brown, who turned in a 3:55.87, was in line for fifth place. The event had 55 runners. Â
Kyle Jankans finished third in the high jump with the ninth-highest mark in school history, 7-0 1/4. The high jump saw 35 competitors attempt a jump.Â
Watterson was seventh (of 33) in the 110m hurdles in a season-best 14.22.
Novye' James placed eighth (of 35) in the triple jump (50-3 1/4).
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
The Beach sent a limited set of entries to the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday.Â

Alex Kalmar ran a season-best 3:50.08 in the invitational 1500m. He finished 121st overall. 153 runners took a time.

Cristian Martinez finished 104th in the A Division of the open 1500m. 191 runners entered the race. Martinez posted a season best time of 3:51.00 in the event.
