Long Beach State Opens The 28th Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif.—With a field of 100 schools and 236 teams, Long Beach State opened the 28th Beach Invitational Friday at Jack Rose Track.

MEN
Antonio Carbajal posted a career-best performance in the 10000m, clocking 30:31.51 and a fourth-place finish.Â
Â
Anthony Coleman's 51.27 finish in the 400m dash secured fifth place among the 18 runners who competed in today's heats.Â
Â
Conrad Bernstein moved to eighth in school history in the javelin with his 216-5 performance on Friday. He ended the competition 12th in the field of 43 throwers.

WOMEN
Rori Denness-Lamont recorded the top Beach placing as she came in second in the javelin with a toss of 173-1.

Sharp finishes were in hand for the 5000m women of The Beach. Marikay Schwab led the way with a lifetime best of 17:17.73, while Allie Scimia followed for a 3-4 showing at 17:25.95, her season best. Alyssa Tapanes joined, turning in her new personal best and finishing eighth. (17:47.33).Â

Ailene Rios recorded the ninth fastest time in school history in the steeplechase, 11:11.65, to finish fourth.

Kendall Harrison recorded a season-best in the 800m, placing second among the 28 runners who competed in today's heat races (2:14.64).Â

The Beach sent a limited set of entries to the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.

Kash Powell ran 1:48.14 in the men's open 800m. He placed 16th among 120 competitors.

In a field of 235 runners, Kyle Reden finished 34th in the open 800m in 1:51.68.
