Women’s Golf Off To Final Tournament Prior To Big West Championship With Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

Long Beach State will return for the tournament for a third consecutive season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – With their regular lineup reunited, Long Beach State Women's Golf will return to action at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic over April 3-4 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
The Beach has had a podium finish as a team in each of the last two seasons competing at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, and will hope to showcase their best form as the team plays their final tournament prior to the upcoming Big West Championship.
Sophomore Madison Le will rejoin the lineup for Long Beach State after playing as an individual during the team's last two tournaments. Le was unable to play all three rounds at the Silicon Valley Showcase but had an outstanding tournament at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, shooting three rounds under par in Hawaii to finish eight place overall in the 95-golfer field.
Twin sisters Jasmine Leovao and Janae Leovao will lead off the top of the lineup for Long Beach State in that order. Jasmine had back-to-back rounds of 71 to close the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational after returning to action in that tournament after missing the trip to Northern California. Janae meanwhile was the top team finisher at the event, riding a 4-under par 68 in the second round.
Senior Angelina Kim will play third for the Beach. A Top 10 finisher at the Silicon Valley Showcase, Kim has been one of the more consistent players for Long Beach State over the spring season in her final year at LBSU. Finally, freshman Andee Avery will play fourth. Avery also boasts a Top 10 finish this fall, leading the team with a 5-under par tournament at the GCU Invitational in February.
A large field contains five other Big West schools in what should be an exciting preview of action to come at the championships with Hawai'i, Cal State Fullerton, UC Riverside, Cal State Bakersfield and CSUN. Other teams in the large primarily Western field include Boise State, Fresno State, Montana, -Montana State, New Mexico State, Nevada, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, UTEP, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah and the hosts.
