No. 6 Long Beach State Extends Winning Streak to Nine After Win Over Brown 13-6

LONG BEACH, Calif.- No. 6 Long Beach State Women's Water Polo returned home and came away with a 13-6 win over No. 24 Brown. The Beach controlled the entire game from the start with Lara Luka leading the way with three goals, two assists and two steals. Defensively, Chelsea Oliver had six saves and three steals from behind the cage.
Long Beach State came out from the start with two early goals from Mariah Walker and Elisa Portillo. Brown responded with three goals of their own and drew three exclusions in the first period. A Martina Cardona goal tied the score at 3-3 to end the first period.
Anne de Kleer started the second period with her first goal of the game, followed by a second goal from Portillo to increase the lead to two. Brown continued to apply pressure to draw another exclusion and lead to a goal. Hailey Multz came up with her first goal by throwing it over the goalie to help the Beach take a 6-4 lead at the end of the first half.
The Beach came out firing to start the second half with another Cardona and Kowalchick goal. Brown continued to fight and scored their first goal of the half up two players. In the final seconds of the period, Oliver connected with Grace Cuozzo to take a 9-5 lead.
Kowalchick put the Beach on the board with her second goal of the game to start the final quarter. Brown added their only goal of the quarter before Luka took over and scored two straight goals to secure the Beach win 13-6.
