
No. 12 Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo Returns Home For Tuesday Match Against Toronto

The Beach will return home to host Toronto after two competitive road tournaments.
LONG BEACH, Calif.- No. 12 Long Beach State returns to Ken Lindgren Aquatic Center as they take on the University of Toronto Tuesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
The Beach will return home after competing in two away tournaments. During the last two weeks, the Beach participated in a highly competitive Triton Invite and San Diego State Mini, securing two wins over No. 18 San Diego State and a win against No. 9 UC San Diego.
Lara Luka will look to continue her strong start in their home matchup this week. Luka currently leads the team with 36 goals on the season, which is good for second in the Big West. She has scored in seven of their nine total games this season. Elisa Portillo looks to back up a strong performance at the San Diego State Mini after averaging 3 goals per game.
Toronto heads into Long Beach with an 18-12 overall record. The Varisty Blues are at the tail end of their NCAA Southern California Tour with a record of 1-5 with just Long Beach State and Concordia University Irvine left to play. This will be the second meeting between the Beach and Varsity Blues with the Beach winning the first ever matchup 12-2 in the 2023 season.
Following their game on Tuesday, the Beach will head over to Irvine this weekend for the Barbara Kalbus tournament, which will take place February 23-25th. The tournament will be held at both UC Irvine campus and Corona del Mar High School. The Beach will first play against No. 7 Arizona State at 3:45 p.m. on Friday at UCI. Depending on the result of their first game, they will take on either Hawaii or Pomona at 10:30 a.m on Saturday. The rest of their schedule is determined on their first two games.
