Men’s Water Polo Schedule Set As First Season Of Big West Competition Begins

Long Beach State will transition from the Golden Coast Conference to join the Big West for the 2023 season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State has announced its 2023 Men's Water Polo schedule, comprising multiple non-conference tournaments before the inaugural season of Big West action for Men's Water Polo.
With UC San Diego joining the conference and Cal State Fullerton adding Men's Water Polo, the conference now has the met the minimum of six member schools to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The Tritons and the Titans join UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and the Beach in competing in Men's Water Polo.
The season begins on September 2 as the Beach will head to La Jolla to take part in the Triton Invitational. Then following the Inland Empire tournament, the first Big West contest will take place on September 14 as Long Beach State plays on the road again at UC San Diego.
Long Beach State's home opener will be a busy day on September 16, featuring three matches against Long Beach City, Biola and finishing with Brown in the evening. The following day, the Beach will once again host their annual Alumni Game.
Following the annual MPSF Tournament, this year hosted by USC, another new competition will be held as schools from the Big West and the West Coast Conference will meet up in a tournament hosted by UC Irvine.
The heart of conference play will then begin, as Long Beach State hosts UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara in the first season. Additional home matches include Pepperdine on October 7, USC on October 27 and LMU on senior night, November 10.
The first Big West Tournament will also be held in La Jolla, as UC San Diego will serve as the hosts along with the conference from November 17 to 19.
