Long Beach State Tennis Signs Paulina Franco Martinessi

The Beach add sophomore Paulina Franco Martinessi for the 2023-24 season
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Head Tennis Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello announced the signing of sophomore Paulina Franco Martinessi for the 2023-24 school year.
"We are very excited to welcome Paulina to the Beach," said Hilt-Costello. "I have been impressed by her maturity and enthusiasm throughout the entire process. She has a big, aggressive game, and with three more years of eligibility, we look forward to helping Paulina build her tennis game to the next level."
A native of Asunción, Paraguay, Franco Martinessi had an incredible junior career as she boasted a career-high International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior ranking of No. 132 in 2022 after earning 19 wins and collecting eight ITF Titles. Additionally, she was ranked No. 2 in the U18 national rankings in Paraguay. In 2020 and 2022, Franco Martinessi was nominated to play in the Fed Cup representing Paraguay. In the South American COAST U16 rankings, Franco Martinessi picked up a No. 3 ranking.
Franco Martinessi comes to the Beach with three years of eligibility remaining after having played her freshman season at Xavier where she went 4-1 in singles action and picked up nine wins in doubles competition.
