Track and Field Continues Big West Outdoor Championships at Fullerton

Long Beach State wraps up the conference championships this weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Beach track and field team is heading back to Cal State Fullerton for the Big West Outdoor Championships this weekend. After the multis weekend began the conference championships last weekend, the bulk of the events will take place at the Titan Track Complex on Friday and Saturday.

Long Beach State had three student-athletes earn points in both the women's Heptathlon and the men's Decathlon last weekend putting them in first in the women's team standings and second for the men.
Currently, nine LBSU competitors own Big West-leading marks and a total of 29 marks among the top three in the conference.
Sebastian Coleman leads the way with two conference-leading marks in Shot Put (57-8.25) and Hammer (212-5). Fellow thrower TJ Wiggins tops the Big West in Discus (185-0) just ahead of Coleman (180-11) in second. Also on the men's side, Novye James (50-8.75) and Elijah Harris (50-2) are one-two in Triple Jump.
On the track, the women's 4x100m Relay team of Jayda Rustemoglu, Kaitlyn Williams, Rahni Turner, and Daryana Hall own the fastest time at 45.35. Williams also leads the Big West in the 100m (11.48) while Turner also leads in the 100m Hurdles (13.21). Hailey Fune backs up a one-two punch in the hurdles ranking second at 13.59.
In the distances, Ryley Fick has an incredible encore performance to her Big West Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Year last season with Big West leading marks in the 800m and 3000m Steeplechase while also ranking second in the 1500m.
The women's team looks to defend their conference title from the 2022 season, their second in program history. They totaled 134 points for the championship meet, the most in program history. The men's team finished second in the team standings making Long Beach State the only institution with both sides in the top four of the final standings.
For the weekend, the competition starts at 10 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday for the field events. Friday's track events start at 2:20 p.m. while Saturday starts at 1 p.m.
Tickets are available for purchase through Cal State Fullerton's website HERE. One day tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for children while an all-session ticket is $25 for the general public and $20 for children.
