Ian Gilligan Wins Wyoming Cowboy Classic to Claim Third Tournament Title of the Season

Gilligan led Long Beach State in a strong final round as the Beach climbed five spots on the last day to finish in a tie for fourth place

CHANDLER, Ariz. – On the final day of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, No. 22 Ian Gilligan fired a 66 to finish 13-under par as he won his third tournament title of the season. With Gilligan's swift performance, he led Long Beach State as the Beach moved up five spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for fourth place with a 2-over par showing.
Gilligan, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., opened the Wyoming Cowboy Classic with a 70 for 2-under par and continued to shave strokes off with each round he played. He finished the tournament with a 203 as he shot 70-67-66 over three rounds. In the final round, Gilligan fired seven birdies for a 66, just two strokes off his career-low.
As a team, Long Beach State finished 2-over par as the Beach had an excellent final round. In the last 18 holes, LBSU shot a 287 and climbed up five spots on the leaderboard to finish in a fourth-place tie with host Wyoming.
No. 28 San Diego State won the tournament with a 7-under par performance, while Kansas placed second with a 6-under par showing. No. 50 Missouri rounded out to the Top 3 shooting 1-under par.
Freshman Jaden Huggins shot an even 72 on the final day of action as he finished in a tie for 16th place with an even 216.
Steven Deutsch, Isaac Rodea, and Sebastian Vallejo rounded out the remainder the Long Beach State golfers. Deutsch finished shooting 7-over par, while Rodea was 9-over, and Vallejo concluded the tournament 12-over.
