The 30-team tournament will be once again hosted by Stanford.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State enters the home stretch of the season with a premier tournament, having earned the right to be one of 30 teams competing in The Goodwin hosted by Stanford, one of the longest-running events in the nation.
Hosted at the Stanford Golf Course, Long Beach State earned a repeat invitation as a Top 12 finisher the prior season. The Beach is coming into the tournament in great form, rising to No. 28 in the rankings following a second-consecutive runner-up finish as a team.
Leading the way for Long Beach State in Tucson was Alejandro de Castro Piera. The senior started the tournament with two straight rounds of 65, rolling to a three-stroke win, the first tournament victory of his career after three prior runner-up finishes. Moving into the individual Top 50, de Castro will lead the lineup for the Beach.
Jaden Huggins and Steen Zeman also both finished in the Top 20 at the Wildcat Invitational, and the duo will play in that order at Stanford. Huggins had three rounds of par or better at Tucson Country Club, while Zeman rode a first-round 66 to a tie for 15th place.
Junior Krishnav Chopraa will play fourth. The defending Big West Individual Medalist had a Top 20 finish to start the spring at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. Rounding out the lineup will be senior Jack Cantlay, who finished the Wildcat Invitational with a three-under par 69.
The field includes 23 of the Top 100 teams in the country, including No. 28 Long Beach State. The field is made up of Boise State, BYU, Cal Poly, California, Cincinnati, Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Hawai'i Hilo, Grand Canyon, Howard, Little Rock, Long Beach State, Nevada, New Mexico, Northwestern, Oregon, Pacific, SMU, San Diego State, Santa Clara, San Jose State, Stanford, TCU, UC Davis, UCLA, Utah, Washington, and Washington State.
The tournament will be held for one round each day over the course of three days beginning on Thursday, March 26. Live scoring will be provided through SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/239221/scoring/team.
