Isaac Rodea in Second Place to Lead Long Beach State After One Round at El Macero Classic

Long Beach State sits in a tie for sixth place after 18 holes at El Macero Classic
EL MACERO, Calif. – Long Beach State senior Isaac Rodea is leading the team as he sits in a tie for second place with 5-under par after day one of El Macero Classic. Rodea is pacing the Beach which is tied for sixth place at 3-under.
The Beach shot a 285 in the first round to tie with Cal State Fullerton in sixth place with a 3-under par showing. Holding first place is LMU with a 6-under par, following behind are No. 45 San Diego and UCLA, which are tied for second at 5-under par.
Rodea shot a 67 to finish 5-under par with three birdies on the day as he set the tone for Long Beach State in the opening round.
Jaden Huggins is currently tied for 22nd place after finishing round one with 2-under par. He recorded two birdies in the back nine.
Rounding out the rest of the Beach, No. 14 ranked senior, Ian Gilligan, is tied with freshman Jack Cantlay as both players finished round one with a 73 for 1-over. Sophomore Steven Deutsch concluded the first round with a 2-over par performance.
