
Long Beach State Sits in Fourth Place at El Macero Classic

Jaden Huggins is the Beach’s top finisher with a 2-under par in a tie for 16th place heading into the final round
EL MACERO, Calif. – Long Beach State moved up two spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tied for fourth place after two rounds at El Macero Classic. Freshman Jaden Huggins sits in a tie for 16th place with 2-under par as he leads the way for the Beach.
The Beach shot 285 in the second round to tie with UCLA in fourth place with a 6-under par showing. No. 46 San Francisco and Loyola Marymount are tied at the top of the leaderboard after shooting 9-under par. Cal State Fullerton moved into third place with a 7-under par performance.
Huggins shot a 70 to end the second round with a 2-under par after firing three birdies on the day. Overall, he is shooting a 142 for 2-under overall as he moved up six places in the tournament after shaving two strokes off his game.
Rounding out the rest of the Beach, No. 14 Ian Gilligan moved into the top 25 after shooting a 70 in the second round to bring him to a 1-under par for the tournament. Senior Isaac Rodea had a tough day after shooting a 78. Rodea is now in a tie with freshman Jack Cantlay who shot 72 even for 1-over par. Sophomore Steven Deutsch concluded the second round with a 73 to bring his overall performance to 3-over par heading into the final day.
