
Another Top 10 Finish for Ian Gilligan at El Macero Classic

Long Beach State finished El Macero Classic with a 3-under par for seventh place, while Ian Gilligan was the Beach’s top finisher with a 4-under par performance

EL MACERO, Calif. – No.14 Ian Gilligan led the way for Long Beach State as he finished tied for 10th at El Macero Classic with a 4-under par performance. As a team, the Beach finished the tournament in seventh place with a 3-under par showing.
The Beach shot 291 on the final day of El Macero Classic dropping three spots on the leaderboard. They were 3-over par on the day which brought their final score to 3-under par. No. 45 San Diego shot 9-under par on the day to win El Marcero Classic with a 14-under par overall.
Gilligan had a solid final round as he fired a 69 with six birdies to move up an impressive 24 spots on the leaderboard to finish in the top 10. He now has recorded seven top 10 finishes this season.
Senior Isaac Rodea bounced back from yesterday with a strong end to the tournament. Rodea shot a 2-under par 70 with five birdies on the day. He finished tied for 17th, as he moved up 21 spots, to conclude El Macero Classic shooting 1-under for the tournament.
Rounding out the rest of the Beach, freshman Jaden Huggins finished tied for 31st with a score of 3-over par. Huggins had five birdies on the last day bringing his final score to 1-over par. Jack Cantlay had a tough final day, with a score of 6-over par to finish 7-over for the tournament. Sophomore Steven Deutsch finished one stroke behind Cantlay for an 8-over showing.
The next action for the Beach is The Big West Championships, which begin on Sunday, April 30 and conclude on Tuesday, May 2 at the La Quinta Country Club. Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.com.
