
Long Beach State in a Three-Way Tie for First After Round One at The Big West Men’s Golf Championships

Ian Gilligan, Isaac Rodea, and Jack Cantlay lead Long Beach State after one round of action as the trio are tied for fourth place after shooting a 69 for 3-under par
LA QUINTA, Calif. – The Long Beach State Men's Golf team got off to a hot start at the 2023 Big West Championships as the Beach are tied in a three-way tie for first place with Cal State Fullerton and CSUN. The trio of teams shot 281 in the first round for a 7-under par showing.
The Beach, Titans, and Matadors head into the second round nine strokes ahead of fourth place finisher Cal Poly, which is 2-over par.
Leading the way for Long Beach State are the trio of No. 16 Ian Gilligan, Isaac Rodea, and Jack Cantlay who all fired a 69 over the first 18 holes to post a 3-under par performance as they're tied for fourth place.
Gilligan, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., finished the first round with six birdies, while senior Rodea tallied five birdies, as did freshman Cantlay.
Freshman Jaden Huggins shot a 74 for 2-over par in the first round as he sits in a tie for 21st place.
Rounding out the Beach players after the first 18 holes is sophomore Steven Deutsch who shot a 78 for a 6-over par showing.
The second round will begin on Monday, May 1 at 10 a.m. Fans can follow live stats via GolfStat.com.
