Long Beach State Places 5th At The Goodwin

No. 31 Long Beach State was one of five teams under par in the 30-team field that featured some of the top teams in the country.
STANFORD, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf finished in fifth place overall among 30 teams at The Goodwin, placing in front of nine other teams ranked in the Top 50 in another outstanding performance at Stanford.
Final Results
No. 31 Long Beach State was one of five teams that finished under par in the field, ending in fifth behind No. 23 Stanford, No. 35 UCLA, No. 21 New Mexico and No. 24 BYU. The Beach finished in front of nine other teams ranked in the Top 50, and continued their streak of a Top 5 finish in every tournament so far in 2025-26.
Also continuing a streak was senior Alejandro de Castro Piera, who made it five straight tournaments with a Top 10 finish after placing in a tie for sixth place at -7 for the tournament. Senior Jack Cantlay had the best score of the day for Long Beach State, using two birdies over the final four holes to shoot a two-under par 68 and finish the tournament in the Top 20. Krishnav Chopraa was also under par Saturday with a one-under 69.
The fifth-place finish at The Goodwin is the best finish in program history at the event, which was formerly known as the US Intercollegiate, in which the Beach first participated in 1977, with the tournament having been held for over 50 years. Previously, the Beach had finished no higher than seventh.
Long Beach State will get a brief break before playing their final tournament prior to the Big West Championship, the ASU Thunderbird Intercollegiate on April 10-11.
