Track and Field Closes Out Regular Season at Steve Scott Invitational

After a weekend off, Long Beach State will compete in their final tune-up before the Big West Championships.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State track and field team is set for the final competition of the regular season as they head to UC Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational. The meet will serve as the Beach's final tune-up ahead of the Big West Championships that begin the following weekend.

The Beach enjoyed a weekend of rest last weekend after hosting the prestigious Beach Invitational and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, as well as having athletes compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Across those three meets, there was eight new program top ten marks set headlined by Ryley Fick breaking the school record in the women's 1500m Run.
With one meet left, Long Beach State currently has 55 student-athletes (34 men, 21 women) with qualifying marks for the Big West Championships. Among those, nine are conference-leading marks. Fick owns two of the leading marks (1500m, 3000m Steeple) joined by Sebastian Coleman with two leading marks (Hammer, Shot Put. Kaitlyn Williams (100m), Rahni Turner (100m Hurdles), the women's 4x100m Relay, Novye James (Triple Jump), and TJ Wiggins (Discus) are the other Big West leaders heading into the weekend.
Furthermore, 26 of those 55 marks are potential West Regional qualifying marks.
For the weekend in Irvine, the field events will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday with action on the track not kicking off until 6:30 p.m. with the distance events. Saturday will also start at noon in the field with the sprints, hurdles, and relays beginning at 12:30 p.m.
