Long Beach State has now won 11 of their last 13 games.
The offense was hot and heavy in the early going plating all 10 of their runs in the first four innings.
The reigning Big West Player of the Week got the scoring started with a three-run home run in the top of the first. The homer extends Connor Burns' hit streak into the double-digits as he's registered a hit in 10 straight ballgames and gives him seven dingers on the year.
After Fresno State plated three of their own in the bottom half to tie it, Joey Walls Jr. connected for an opposite field shot in the second to put the 'Bags back in front. It is the fifth home run of the season for the senior outfielder.
In the top of the third, Rocco Peppi added to the Long Beach lead with an opposite field homer of his own. A two-run shot, he now has four homers this year.
The fourth frame was the Dirtbags' biggest scoring affair of the night, plating four runs on four hits. After Ty Borgogno reached on a catcher's interference to lead off, the next four all recorded singles followed by a Kyle Ashworth sacrifice fly to put LBSU into double digits with a 10-3 lead.
Myles Patton, Josh Haley, and Kellan Montgomery were the key arms out of the pen on Tuesday night. Patton was perfect in his two innings of work while recording three strikeouts. Haley and Montgomery went back-to-back to cover the fifth through the eighth without allowing a run while strikeout four and allowing just two hits and a walk.
The Bulldogs attempted a ninth inning rally trailing by four, but after the leadoff runners scored Nathen Morris settled down and secured the 10-7 victory for the Dirtbags.
Long Beach State returns home to host a weekend series with CSUN. The three-game set begins on Friday at 6 p.m.
