Beach Tennis Resume Homestand Against Two Non-Conference Foes This Week

LBSU faces Youngstown State and Boston University at Rhodes Tennis Center.

WHAT'S COMING UP:    
This week, the Beach have back-to-back non-conference dual matches against Youngstown State on Wednesday March 8 and Boston University on Thursday March 9 at Rhodes Tennis Center. After a tough conference match against Cal Poly on Saturday March 4, LBSU looks to bounce back.   

ABOUT LBSU:    
For the year, the Beach own a 3-4 overall record. Peppi Ramstedt leads the Beach with a 14-6 doubles record and Hana Becirovic Novak leads the Beach with a 10-6 singles record. Additionally, Ramstedt and Rhona Cook collected their seventh doubles victory on Saturday March 4, they currently own a 7-3 doubles record while Ramstedt and Doga Akyurek own a 3-0 doubles record. Entering both matches this week, Boston University leads the all-time series against the Beach 1-0, but LBSU leads the all-time series against Youngstown State 2-0.   

ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN STATE:    
The Penguins own a 2-6 record for the season and are currently on a three-game losing streak. Their last dual match on Saturday February 25 was canceled due to scheduling modifications. The team has yet to play a dual match since February 18. For the year, Cecilia Rosas has a 12-9 singles record, while Lili Minich owns a 12-11 doubles record.   

ABOUT BOSTON UNIVERSITY:    
For the year, the Terriers own a 7-2 record and are currently riding a three-game winning streak. In their last dual match on Sunday February 26, they defeated Dartmouth on the road, 6-1 at Alexis Boss Tennis Center. Their previous two victories have also been road wins against LIU, 6-1, and MIT, 7-0. For the season, Navya Vadlamudi and Shelly Yaloz tie with a 13-5 singles record while Kaitlin Tan owns a 12-8 doubles record.   

LAST TIME OUT:    
To start the Beach's seven game homestand, Long Beach State won the doubles point but fell to Cal Poly, 6-1.  

The duo Ramstedt and Cook defeated Kim Bhunu and Kennedy Buntrock by a score of 6-4 on court two. On court one, Sheena Masuda and Justine Dondonay garnered a gritty 7-6 win over Delanie Dunkle and Peyton Dunkle to clinch the Beach's doubles point.   

After a slow start in doubles action, the Mustangs rebounded to take all six singles matches.      

TENNIS TRADITION:     
The traditional player cheer pre-match and each time the team wins a match point is "Here We Go Beach" followed by all supporters in attendance then cheering the same "Here We Go Beach!"
