ABOUT THE 'BAGS
•  The Dirtbags enter the week with a 15-8 overall record and 3-3 mark in conference play. They currently own a five-game win streak after a midweek victory over California Baptist on Tuesday.
•  The offense owns a .257/.351/.424 slash line with 152 runs in their 23 games. Of the team's 199 hits, 73 have gone for extra bases, including 26 home runs which ranks second-most in the Big West. They also rank second in hits and third in runs, doubles, RBI, and total bases.
•  The pitching staff has gotten back on track allowing three or less runs in each of the last four games. Together, they own a team ERA of 4.27 and a 1.34 WHIP. In 204.1 innings of work, they have racked up 231 strikeouts to just 78 walks.

LAST WEEKEND
•  Long Beach State entered the win column during Big West play with a sweep of UC Riverside over the weekend. In the series, the Dirtbags posted a 25-7 run differential with five home runs in the three games.
•  In game one, an early two-run blast from Cole Santander put the 'Bags in front and a dominant outing from Graham Osman on the mound (6.2 IP, 11K) resulted in a series opening win.
•  Game two saw some late drama, with UCR rallying for three runs in the ninth to make it a one-run game. Sky Wells came out of the bullpen to put an end to it though with back-to-back strikeouts to end it.
•  The series finale was by far the most complete game as the offense powered out 14 runs on 12 hits to back Myles Patton's best start of the season, throwing 6.2 innings and striking out eight.

WEEKDAY WALKOFF
•  The Dirtbags hosted California Baptist on Tuesday night for their second midweek matchup with the Lancers this season. The second time around was a lot similar to the first, ending on a walkoff home run.
•  The Dirtbags scored twice in the second with the Lancers tying it with runs in the seventh and eighth, as both teams relied on bullpen days.
•  It came down to the bottom of the ninth where Jonathon Long launched a 109mph missile to lead off the frame and send the Dirtbag faithful home happy for a 3-2 walkoff win.

IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
•  The Dirtbags, primarily the pitching staff, have found themselves statistically ranked among the Top 50 in the Valenzuela Era and that has continued once again this season.
•  The team's three shutout victories ranks tied for eleventh most in the nation, while their 17 sacrifice flies is 10th most. They also rank in the Top 50 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (19th, 2.99), walks per nine (26th, 3.46), sac bunts (37th, 12), strikeouts per nine (42nd, 10.3), WHIP (46th, 1.35), and ERA (50th, 4.38).

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
•  Cal Poly enters the week with a 7-14 overall record and 3-3 mark in conference play coming off a midweek win at Fresno State and a series win over UC Irvine last weekend.
•  As a team, the Mustang offense owns a .262 batting average with a .347 on-base and .380 slugging percentage. In 21 games, they have scored 114 runs while  51 of their 192 hits have gone for extra bases.
•  The pitching staff owns a 5.81 ERA with opponents hitting .280 against them. In 189 innings of work, they have racked up 206 strikeouts compared to 83 walks.

•  When playing at Blair Field, it's a 51-30 advantage for Long Beach State with the 'Bags winning the last series in LB, two games to one

BAGS IN THE BIGS
•  Major League Baseball celebrated Opening Day on Thursday and with that, three Dirtbag alum have started the 2023 campaign in the big leagues.
