Fair, Fune' Lead the Way After UCR Spring Break Multis Day One

Long Beach State currently owns the top spot of both the men’s Decathlon and women’s Heptathlon.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State has the current leaders atop both men's and women's multi-event standings at the UCR Spring Break Multis Meet. Justice Fair sits in first for the men's Decathlon while Hailey Fune leads the women's Heptathlon at the end of Thursday's action.

Fair ended the first day of the Decathlon with 3,510 points to put himself atop the event standings. He racked up three wins on the day in the 100m, Long Jump, and High Jump, Starting the day with the 100m Dash, he ran an 11.39 for the victory and new lifetime best. He followed that up with a dominant showing in Long Jump, winning by almost a full foot with a jump of 6.82m (22-4.5). In High Jump, he cleared the bar at 1.83m (6-0) to tie for the top spot with teammate, Milo Orona.
 
Fune' totaled 2,982 points on the first day of the Heptathlon with three event wins in 100m Hurdles, High Jump, and 200m Dash. In the hurdles, she was over a half-second faster than the runner-up with a time of 13.99 while her High Jump mark of 1.58m (5-2.25) was over a foot better than second-place. Her third win of the day came in the 200m Dash with a lifetime-fastest 26.07 seconds.
 
Sofia Bailey is right behind Fune' in the women's Heptathlon standings with 2,824 points at the end of day one in Riverside. She finished top three in all four events, including a victory in Shot Put. On her second attempt, she posted a throw of 11.22m (36-9.75), nearly a full foot further than the runner-up.
 
Milo Orona is also in a podium placement at the end of the first day of the men's Decathlon. Sitting in third, he totaled 3,384 points for the day finishing top three in all six events including the tie for first in High Jump.
 
The Beach is also represented by Temi Odugbola (4th; 3,066 points) and Preston Sladek (6th; 2,650 points in the Decathlon and Allison Bryan (6th; 2,046 points) in the Heptathlon.
 
The seven Long Beach State student-athletes will wrap up the UCR Spring Break Multis tomorrow. The Decathlon will begin at 11 a.m. while the Heptathlon starts shortly after at 12 p.m.
