Dirtbags Suffer Lopsided Loss at UCSD

Just as they did the night before, UC San Diego put a run on the board first scoring a run in the bottom of the second. Connor Burns had an answer though, launching his second home run of the week off the scoreboard in right field.
Two innings later, Jashia Morrissey-Jakel had a big swing with a monster shot over that same scoreboard in the fifth. It is the second homer of the season for the junior transfer and gave the Dirtbags a 2-1 lead.
That marked the end of the LBSU offense though while UCSD responded with three in the fifth, one in the sixth, five in the seventh, and four more in the eighth on the way to an 13-2 victory.
Only three hits came off Long Beach State bats, the two home runs from Burns and Morrissey-Jakel along with a single from Jonathon Long.
The Dirtbags will look to salvage a win in the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch at 1 p.m.
