Long Beach State Swept by UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Long Beach State was swept by UC San Diego in their weekend series at Triton Ballpark. The Dirtbags (10-8, 0-3 BW) fell in another lopsided score in the finale, 10-1, by the UCSD (12-6, 3-0 BW) on Sunday.
The story of the afternoon had to be Triton starting pitcher, Anthony Eyanson, on the mound. Throwing 80 pitches, he tossed 6.1 shutout innings allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out nine.
Meanwhile, the LBSU pitching staff surrendered two runs in the first, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one more in the sixth. The Triton offense scored first in all three games and outscored the Dirtbags 25-7 in the three games.
The lone Dirtbag run came off the bat of Connor Burns in the eighth inning. The junior catcher connected for his third home run of the week to keep the 'Bags from being shutout. He extends his hit streak to eight consecutive games, where he's raised his season average over 100 points
