LONG BEACH, Calif.— The Long Beach State men's water polo team faced a tough UC Davis team for the third consecutive week and came up just short in a 9-8 loss but bounced back with a victory over Golden West College in the afternoon. Long Beach State and UC Davis were both locked in defensively, however it was the Aggie who were able to come out on top.

Long Beach State would regain momentum in the second quarter as they opened the quarter with three straight goals from Lopez Duart, Botond Hajdu, and Nikola Jancic. The Aggies would pull one back, but a late goal from Lopez Duart would give the Beach a 6-3 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter it was UC Davis' turn to come out firing as they erased the deficit and would take the lead after opening the quarter with four straight goals. Goals from Bruno Chiappini and Evan Cain would restore the lead for Long Beach State, but UC Davis would find the equalizer with under a minute left in the quarter. The fourth quarter was a defensive battle as both teams had trouble finding their rhythm on offense. However, UC Davis would find the back of the cage which was enough to give them the 9-8 victory.
