Women’s Golf Begins Golf Iconic Classic At New Mexico State Monday

The Beach returns to Las Cruces, N.M. for the second straight season after a strong finish a year ago.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Women's Golf continues their fall schedule this coming week, traveling to Las Cruces, N.M. to take part in the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico State beginning on Monday, October 9.
Played over three days with a round each day, tee times will start at 7:30 a.m. each day on the New Mexico State Golf Course. The field consists of a variety of teams from around the country in Boise State, Boston College, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee, Nevada, Northern Arizona, San Francisco, Southern Utah, Texas A&M-Corpus Christ, UC Davis, UT Arlington, UTEP and UT Rio Grande Valley as well as the host Aggies.
Janae Leovao will lead the Long Beach State lineup after a Top 10 finish in her last outing at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic with three consecutive rounds under par. Freshman Andee Avery will play second for the Beach after also finishing under par for the tournament at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic. Sophomore Madison Le will play third following an even par finish in Fort Collins, matching her third place finish among the Beach golfers Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Jasmine Leovao will be fourth in the lineup for the Beach, but also has a great track record on the course after a third-place individual finish a year ago as a true freshman, where she shot a first-round 67 on the way to a 4-under par finish for the tournament. Senior Angelina Kim will round out the lineup for the Beach.
Finally, freshman Erin Lee will make her collegiate debut with Long Beach State next week. Lee, coming to LBSU from Langley, British Columbia, will compete as an individual in Las Cruces.
Long Beach State is one of seven squads returning to the tournament from the 2022 edition, and the Beach had the best finish of those teams, placing in third overall with a two-over par score of 866 a year ago.
