Women’s Golf Still In The Lead After Two Rounds At Golf Iconic Classic

Long Beach State aiming for its first fall team tournament win since 2011.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Long Beach State Women's Golf finished the second day of three at the Golf Iconic Classic from Las Cruces with three players in the Top 10 and extended their team lead with another outstanding round from New Mexico State.
After a record-setting round on Monday of 278, Long Beach State was again under par as a team with a 7-under 281. The Beach enters the final day with an eight-stroke team advantage over the hosts, New Mexico State, who had the best round of the day and climbed six spots on the team leaderboard.
Janae Leovao once again led the team with a three-under 69, and picked up a stroke on the individual lead for the tournament. The sophomore remains in second place overall in the 92-golfer field, one stroke behind Nevada's Leah John entering the final day at 8-under for the tournament.
Freshman Andee Avery matched the low score of her young career as well with a 69, tied with Janae Leovao for the low Beach score on the day. That round moved the freshman up ten spots into a tie for fifth place overall in the tournament.
Madison Le was also under pair for the second straight day, carding a 71 to move into the Top 10 as well in a tie for ninth place overall after two rounds. Senior Angelina Kim was the final counting score of the day with an even par 72.
Sophomore Jasmine Leovao showcased her mental toughness, rebounding from a 7 on the Par 3 6th hole with an eagle on eight and a birdie on nine, finishing the day with a 75. True freshman Erin Lee, competing as an individual, improved on her first round with a second round 76 on Tuesday.
