Long Beach State will play five matches in four days plus an exhibition.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Coming off of a strong 3-1 start at the Triton Invitational, No. 7 Long Beach State will move through one of the busiest stretches of the calendar with action on each of the next four days.
Long Beach State played well down in La Jolla, as the Beach grabbed wins over Westcliff, No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, and No. 12 UC Irvine. Garrett Zaan led the way with eight goals over the four matches, but the Beach were balanced with 15 players scoring and eight players finding the net at least four times through four games. In goal, Andrej Bosanac continued his strong form coming off of an All-America campaign last season.
The schedule starts with a pair of tough road tests, beginning with a trip to No. 3 USC on Thursday evening. The Trojans went 3-1 at the Triton Invite, falling in their final game against UCLA 8-6. The two teams will face off at 5 p.m. at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center, with live coverage provided by the Pac-12 Networks.
On Friday, the Beach will stay in Los Angeles, moving to Westwood to take on unbeaten No. 2 UCLA. The Bruins claimed the Triton Invitational championship with a 4-0 start, and will host Long Beach State at 7 p.m. in the Spieker Aquatics Center.
Saturday will give the program a bit of a rest as the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center plays host to the Alumni Match at 3 p.m. Admission is free, and the program is excited to welcome back any and all former players to take part in the festivities.
Long Beach State's depth will then get tested as the Beach hits the road once more to participate in the Inland Empire Classic. The Beach is scheduled to play three games on Sunday, September 11. The Beach kicks off the morning at 9 a.m., facing their hosts for the day La Verne. Then at Noon, the Beach takes on Whittier, and closes the day with a third contest against Ottawa (AZ) starting at 4:30 p.m.
All three of those games will have live stats via thefosh.net and will be streamed live at https://www.sciacnetwork.com/ulv/.
