Long Beach State’s games with No. 13 UC San Diego and No. 8 UC Santa Barbara will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Men's Water Polo will have another busy weekend but this time will do so from the friendly waters of the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center, hosting four contests across Saturday and Sunday.
The home opener will be on Saturday, as Long Beach State hosts No. 13 UC San Diego at 1 p.m. on ESPN+. A familiar foe in Men's Water Polo for Long Beach State, Saturday's contest will mark the last time the teams will face each other outside of conference play as the Tritons will be joining the Beach in the newly sponsored sport next season as Men's Water Polo gets added to the conference slate.
The Beach will then continue Saturday by hosting Golden West College. A solid local junior college program, Long Beach State has never lost in their exhibitions, but battled to a 11-6 win last season.
Saturday marks the return of Beach Streets to Long Beach, so fans wishing to attend the games should note that Atherton Street will be closed by the City. To reach the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center, please enter campus off of Palo Verde Avenue.
Returning to action on Sunday, the Beach will play two more in a similar schedule to Saturday. Golden Coast Conference play will begin as Long Beach State hosts No. 8 UC Santa Barbara. The contest will be a rematch of a meeting earlier this year at the Triton Invitational, a thrilling 12-11 win in overtime for Long Beach State. Sunday's game will be carried live on ESPN+.
Finally, the weekend will conclude with LBSU hosting the other Men's Water Polo team in the city from Long Beach City College. The Beach has played the Vikings in an exhibition in each of the last two seasons, winning both.
Long Beach State is coming off of three wins at the Inland Empire Classic, and will try to keep that momentum by again showcasing their depth along with the skill that has seen the team join the top tier of teams in the country this season.
Tickets to the games can be purchased online at www.longbeachstate.com or purchased at the gate.
