Trio of Throwers Compete at Triton Invitational

After helping win the Challenge Cup yesterday, Charlie Vernoy, Alec Jones, and Sebastian Coleman competed in La Jolla on Saturday.

LA JOLLA, Calif. – After winning both the women's and men's Challenge Cup titles yesterday, the Beach had a few athletes in La Jolla on Saturday. The trio of Charlie Vernoy, Alec Jones, and Sebastian Coleman were all competing in the Discus at the Triton Invitational.
 
Results
 
Facing off against some of the world's greatest throwers, the trio of Long Beach State athletes held their own finishing in the top three spots of the collegiate athletes in the competition.
 
Vernoy led the way with a mark of 56.72m (186-1) to finish thirteenth, just ahead of Jones' 56.02m (183-9) in fourteenth. Coleman rounded out the trio with a throw of 55.27m (181-4) to finish sixteenth.
 
Also, competing in the Invite portion of the Discus was Beach alum Jason Harrell. The 2014 grad owns the eighth-best mark in program history and finished twelfth in front of Vernoy.
 
Long Beach State will be back in action next week as they host the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and the Beach Invitational Thursday through Saturday.
