Dirtbags Drop Midweek at San Diego State

Long Beach State’s offense was stifled by the Aztec pitching staff on Tuesday night.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Long Beach State (14-13) dropped their midweek at San Diego State (7-21) on Tuesday night. The 5-1 loss is just the second midweek loss of the season for the Dirtbags.
In his third start of the season, Noah Carabajal faced the minimum in his two innings of work. The freshman struck out three in the outing while walking one.
Long Beach State went to the bullpen in the third where the Aztecs greeted the new arm with two runs on a triple down the left field line.
The Dirtbags could not come up with an answer until the top of the sixth to cut the deficit in half. Rocco Peppi led off the inning with a double over the left fielder's head and would come around to score on a pair of wild pitches to make it 2-1.
However, San Diego State would respond immediately with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the sixth and one more in eighth.
Long Beach State is back in action this weekend as they head to San Luis Obispo for their series with Cal Poly. Game times are Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
