Long Beach State hits the road again, heading up the coast to face UC Santa Barbara.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State resumes conference play this weekend as they head up the coast for a three-game set with the conference leader and No. 13 ranked UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
• The Dirtbags suffered an 0-4 week last week with a midweek loss to California Baptist before being swept by No. 2 Oregon State on the weekend. The offense struggled, scoring just seven runs in the four games.
• Against CBU, Long Beach State fell behind early with a Lancer three-spot in the second. The Dirtbags lone run came didn't come until a Chase Luttrell RBI single in the seventh.
• Game one against the Beavers was a pitchers' dual that went in favor of OSU. Outside of the three-run third inning, Marques Johnson and Juaron Watts-Brown surrendered just four hits on the day. Luttrell was once again responsible for the lone run with a solo home run in the 3-1 loss.
• Game two was back-and-forth through six innings with a 2-2 score heading into the seventh when Oregon State blew it open with three runs in each the eighth and ninth innings on their way to an 8-2 victory.
• The series finale was one-sided from the start as the Beavers scoring five runs in the bottom of the first on their way to a 14-3 victory for the sweep.
 
MIDWEEK WITH THE BULLDOGS
• Wednesday night wrapped up a home-and-home season series with Fresno State, but the Dirtbags lost, 4-3, for a split.
• The Bulldogs got scoring started early with two runs in the first and tacked on two more in the fourth. After that the Dirtbag pitching was locked in as Jake Rons, Noah Carabajal, and Jonathan Carlos combined for 5.2 shutout to end the ballgame.
• Offensively, Eddie Saldivar led the way with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with a triple and run scored. Peyton Schulze was 1-for-4 with an RBI triple and Chris Jimenez was 1-for-4 with an eighth inning RBI single.
 
ABOUT UC SANTA BARBARA
• The Gauchos enter the weekend ranked No. 13 by Collegiate Baseball and sit atop the Big West standings with a 13-2 conference record (24-9 overall). They are coming off a midweek loss against UCLA, but have won six straight Big West games.
