ABOUT LAST WEEK
•   The Dirtbags struggled last week, going 1-3 in their four games.
•   In game one at #17 Cal Poly, the Mustangs scored four runs in the first inning and the Dirtbags could never recover. Marques Johnson was phenomenal out of the bullpen with 6.1 shutout innings with seven strikeouts. LBSU stranded five runners in the final two innings, dropping the opener 4-1.
•   Game two saw the return of Luis Ramirez and one of the most offensive games in program history. The Dirtbags scored 28 runs for the second time in the Valenzuela era while the pitching surrenedered just two unearned runs.
•   The series finale was all Mustangs early as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings. Long Beach State tried to rally back with four runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth, but came up short in the 10-7 loss.

MIDWEEK AGAINST CBU
•   The Dirtbags played California Baptist this past Tuesday, dropping the midweek matchup for their fourth loss in the last five games.
•   Chase Luttrell drove in the lone run for Long Beach State in the 6-1 loss while he, Rocco Peppi, and Jonathon Long all recorded two-hit games.

HISTORIC DAY IN SLO
•   Saturday's game two at Cal Poly turned out to be a record-setting day for the Dirtbags, winning the ballgame by 28-2. No, it was not a football game despite it being a four touchdown score.
•   Long Beach State rattled off 32 hits in the victory, setting a new program record for most hits in a single-game that had been untouched since April 17, 1998 when the Dirtbags recorded 30 hits in a 30-6 win over Nevada.
•   The 26-run winning margin on Saturday also set a new program record that was set in that same game against Nevada.
•   Leadoff hitter Charlie Loust went 3-for-8 on the day with a pair of home runs. His eight at-bats tied the program record for most at-bats in a single-game, last done by Danny Espinosa in 2007.

ABOUT OREGON STATE
•   The Beavers enter the week as a consensus Top 20 team, ranking as high as No. 2 in the USA Today/Coaches and NCBWA polls. They own a 24-7 overall record and 10-4 in PAC-12 play.
•   The offense owns a .312/.420/.466 slash line averaging more than eight runs per game. Jacob Melton leads OSU in virtually every offensive category and ranks 12th in the nation with 44 RBI.
•   The pitching staff owns a 4.08 team ERA and a .255 opponent average. They own a 294/75 strikeout/walk ratio which ranks third in all of NCAA. The biggest Beaver arm this season has been Friday night starter LHP Cooper Hjerpe who owns a perfect 7-0 record with a 1.70 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 47.2 innings.
•   Oregon State is also very solid defensively, leading the nation with a .988 fielding percentage having made just 13 errors this season.

AGAINST THE BEAVERS
•   To this point, Long Beach State and Oregon State have faced each other 13 times with the last matchup being a three-game home series in 2011. Overall, the Dirtbags lead the all-time series 9-4 and are 2-1 when playing in Corvallis.
•   In that 2011 series, the Beavers won two of three at Blair Field, outscoring LBSU 14-8 in the three games.
