Fune, Eley Finish Day One in Fourth Place at UCR Spring Classic Multis

Spencer Eley is fourth on the men’s side while Hailey Fune and Kayla Reynante are fourth and sixth on the women’s side

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Long Beach State trio got off to strong starts at the UCR Spring Classic Multis Invitational on Thursday. Spencer Eley and Hailey Fune both sit in fourth place in the standings at the end of day one.
 
Results
 
Eley registered 3,169 points in the men's Decathlon on day one, just 118 points behind third place. His best event was the 100m Dash, where he raced to an 11.30 time (795 points). He also totaled 771 points in the 400m dash with a time of 50.95 to finish third. Out on the field, he posted a 6.26m (20-6.5) Long Jump effort and a High Jump of 1.66m (5-5.25) for 644 and 512 points respectively. In the shot put, his throw of 9.36m (30-8.5) netted him 447 points.
 
Fune registered 2,886 points in the women's Heptathlon for her fourth place at the end of day one. She had a tremendous day on the track, posting a lifetime-best in 100m Hurdles. Her time of 14.08 gave her a third place finish and 967 points. She followed that up with a lifetime-best 26.65 in the 200m Dash for 741 points. In her first field event of the meet, she cleared 1.59m (5-2.5) in the High Jump for 724 points. Fune posted a lifetime-best throw of 8.84m (29-0) for 454 points in Shot Put as well.
 
Kayla Reynante had a solid day as well in the women's Heptathlon. The true freshman currently sits in sixth with 2,401 points. Her best event of the day came in the High Jump, where she cleared 1.56m (5-1.25) for a total of 689 points. On the track, she just missed out on a lifetime-best in the 200m posting a time of 28.37 then raced to a 16.52 in the 100m hurdles. She received 602 and 652 points, respectively. In Shot Put, Reynante posted a mark of 8.91m (29-2.75) for 458 points.
 
The Beach trio will finish out the Decathlon and Heptathlon tomorrow morning at UCR. Action scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
