LBSU Set for the MPSF Championships this Weekend

The Long Beach State track and field team will be competing in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in Spokane, Washington this upcoming weekend.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach State track team is prepared for their next meet as they head to Spokane, Washington to compete in the MPSF Indoor Championships, taking place Friday and Saturday.

The meet will begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the start of the men's Heptathlon and women's Pentathlon before the main field events begin at 2:00 p.m. and track events at 3:00 p.m. The action on Saturday all begins around the same time with the women's 60m Hurdles kicking the day off at 10:00 a.m.

Among the teams competing with Long Beach State are BYU, Cal State Fullerton, UC Riverside, the University of Portland, UC Irvine, Hawaii, UC Davis, and the University of San Francisco.
 
Long Beach state has a few athletes that are ranked as some of the top MPSF performers in their respective discipline heading into the conference championship weekend. Crystal Washington leads the group after breaking her own school record at the New Mexico Classic. Her 41'8.75" Triple Jump mark is tops in the MPSF and ranks 48th in the country.
 
Charlie Vernoy also represents the Beach with a conference best mark of 68'5.25" in the 35-pound Weight Throw. On the track, newcomer Joseph Anderson made his presence felt immediately posting an 8.05 in the men's 60m Dash debut to lead the MPSF rankings. Vernoy's Weight Throw mark ranks second all-time while Anderson's 60m time ranks third in LBSU history.

The Podium in Spokane requires masks to be worn indoors at all times and has implemented a clear bag
policy. Fans are welcome to come watch the events on both days with general admission being $10 an student tickets being $5.
