Long Beach State Drops A Pair To Conclude Triton Invite Action

The Beach falls to No. 7 UC Irvine and No. 12 UC San Diego Sunday.
La Jolla, Calif. — The Long Beach State women's water polo team wrapped up Triton Invite with a 12-8 loss to No. 12 UC San Diego in the 7th-place match of the tournament.
Orsi Hertzka scored a team-high three goals against the host Tritons. UCSD took a 6-2 lead after halftime and the Beach was unable to mount the comeback.
In the third period, the Beach scored five goals, but UCSD matched with five of their own as LBSU trailed 11-7 heading into the final period.
Mariah Walker and Anne de Kleer each scored twice in the contest and Inbar Geva had two saves in the cage.
In LBSU's first game of the day against UC Irvine, the Beach lost 7-5.
Against the Anteaters, Hertzka scored another three goals to start the day.
The Beach will be back in action when they travel to compete in the Fresno Invite Feb. 19-20.
