Long Beach State Splits Contests To Open Triton Invite

The Beach drops contest to No. 1 USC and defeats No. 15 UC Santa Barbara.
La Jolla, Calif. — Long Beach State opened Triton Invite action splitting its contests against No. 1 USC and No. 15 UC Santa Barbara.
After a 17-6 loss to the top-ranked Trojans, the Beach (4-4) bounced back to defeat No. 15 UC Santa Barbara 11-8 Saturday.
Lena Kotanchyan scored a season-high five goals as Long Beach State led wire-to-wire as the Beach finished in second place in Bracket A.
Along with Kotanchyan, Orsi Hertzka scored two goals and freshman Chelsea Oliver picked up her first career win in the cage.
The Beach will be back in action Sunday morning when the Beach takes on No. 7 UC Irvine at 8 a.m.
Following the result of their contest against the Anteaters the Beach will play at 1:20 p.m. or 2:40 p.m. to wrap up tournament play.
