ABOUT LAST WEEK
• Long Beach State played just one match last week, kicking off the 2022-23 Black and Blue Rivalry on Sunday. A strong second half led to a Beach goal and forced a 1-1 draw with UC Irvine as LBSU remained unbeaten in conference play.
• UCI controlled the first half, outshooting LBSU 12-1 and scoring the first goal of the night in the 36th minute. However, the Beach responded by outshooting the Anteaters in the second half and tying the game in the 66th minute.
Cherrie Cox netted her third goal of the season assisted by Lena Silano while Zora Standifer had another great performance in net, totaling four saves.

UNBEATEN STREAK
• Long Beach State has yet to suffer a loss in a conference match this year, sitting at 3-0-2 in their first five contests. It is the best start to a Big West season for the program since the 2008 season when they were 4-0-1 through the first five. That team went on to finish undefeated in the Big West at 7-0-1.
• In general, the five-match unbeaten streak is the longest since Sep. 17 through Oct. 14 of the 2018 season when the Beach went on a 4-0-2 stretch. The longest in program history is eight consecutive which has been done three times, the last time was an 8-0 streak in 2011 through that ended in the Elite 8.

CONFERENCE AND NATIONAL STAT RANKINGS
• The Beach owns the top spot in the Big West standings and in all the offensive categories, ranking first in total points, goals, and assists. Their 1.69 assists per game is 63rd in all of NCAA while their 22 assists is 71st. They also rank in the top 100 in points per game, total points, and scoring offense.
• Individually, Lena Silano not only leads the Beach offensively but the entire Big West ranking first in goals and points, and tied for first in assists. Summer Laskey also ranks in the top ten for points, goals, and assists while Sophie Jones ranks in the top ten for assists.
• Nationally, Silano is 16th with 22 points, 18th with 9 goals scored, 19th with 1.69 points per game, and 21st with 0.69 goals per game.

SCORE FIRST, SCORE TWICE
• The Beach offense has been the best in the Big West this season with 21 goals so far, two more than any other team in the conference. It is also the most goals for in a single-season for LBSU since the 2018 season.
• Of their 13 matches, they have scored two or more in eight of them. In those contests, they are unbeaten with a 4-0-4 record.
• Further, they have found the back of the net first in seven of their matches this season and are unbeaten in those games as well with a 4-0-3 mark.

ALTERING THE RECORD BOOKS
• Overall the last two seasons, senior Lena Silano has etched her name all over the Long Beach State record books and continues to change them as the season goes.
• In single-season history, her 2021 campaign ranks second for game-winners, third for shots, fifth for goals, and seventh for total points. With five more games in the regular season, she already sits in a tie for tenth in single-season goals while knocking on the door for points and game-winners again.

THE SILANO SHOW
Lena Silano continues to lead the Beach this season and currently leads all of the Big West in points (22), goals (9), and tied for first in assists (4).
• The senior has notched at least one point in 10 of the 13 matches this year and is currently riding a five-match point streak, registering at least one point in all five Big West contests. It marks her second streak of the season of at least four matches.
• She is currently the active Big West career leader in points, goals, goals per game, and shots while also ranking among the leaders in shots shots per game, points per game, and total assists.

ACE-HIGH
Elysia Laramie was a 2019 All-Big West First Team selection and the leading scorer for the Beach that season. Unfortunately, an injury and COVID kept her off the field in both 2020 and 2021, but she has slotted into the backline like she never left this season.
• This year, she has played all but five minutes through 13 matches primarily as the center back, but has also spent time up front on offense. Against CSU Bakersfield, she netted her first goal of the season leaping above everyone on the pitch for a header on a corner kick.
• The goal is her fourth career game-winner which moves her into a tie for tenth most in program history.

SUMMER TIME AT THE BEACH
• Sophomore Summer Laskey started the season as a spark plug off the bench, but has now found herself in the starting lineup over the last several matches. In the midst of a breakout season, she is second on the team and tied for fourth in the Big West with four goals to go along with three assists for 11 total points.
• She is one of just four players in the conference with two multiple-point games recording her first career brace against Fresno State and then registering a goal and an assist against CSU Bakersfield last week.

THE CHERRIE ON TOP
• Freshman Cherrie Cox has made an immediate impact in her debut season at the Beach, playing at least 70 minutes in eight matches thus far and becoming a staple in the Starting XI through the start of conference play.
• She scored the lone Beach goal in the draw against UC Irvine giving her consecutive matches with a goal for the first time in her career. For the season, she ranks third among Big West freshman in total points and goals scored.

GET EVERYONE INVOLVED
• Last year, the Beach totaled 58 points (goals+assists) on the season and had just 10 different student-athletes record at least one point. This year, they have surpassed the player total with 12 different players registering a point this season. They currently have eight different athletes that have registered a goal and 11 that have recorded an assist.
• Cox had the first multi-point effort of her career with a goal and an assist against Hawaii, giving the Beach four different players with at least one multi-point effort (Silano, Laskey, Cox, Ybarra). Silano (3) and Laskey (2) also make LBSU the only team to have two players with multiple.

SCOUTING THE TRITONS
• UC San Diego enters the week with a 2-8-5 overall record and 1-2-3 mark in Big West play. They are sitting in ninth of the standings, coming off a win and a draw last week.
• This season they have been outscored 26-12 through 15 matches and own a 0.459 shot on goal percentage. Natalie Abel paces the offense with three goals and six points as three Tritons have multiple goals scored. In net, it's been all Keara Fitzgerald who owns 81 saves and a 0.757 save percentage.
• Long Beach State has yet to lose to the Tritons with a 7-0-1 record all-time and have won the last seven matchups.

SCOUTING THE MATADORS
• CSUN comes into the week with a 2-12-1 record and sits at the bottom of the conference standings with a 0-5-1 clip having lost their last three.
• They have been outscored 40-9 this season and average just 8.1 shots per game. Cindy Arteaga is responsible for six of her team's nine goals with an assist on another. Their keepers own a combined .704 save percentage with 95 total saves.
