The Beach will play four games as part of the Harvard Tournament over the weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Water Polo will compete in one final road tournament before jumping into their final stretch of home games and the heart of Golden Coast Conference play, facing a pair of ranked teams as part of the Harvard Tournament this weekend.
No. 6 Long Beach State (12-6, 1-1 GCC) held onto their spot in the Top 10 despite a close loss to No. 4 Pacific last weekend, and will head New England to face a number of the best teams from the East Coast.
Starting Saturday, October 15, Long Beach State will face No. 20 St. Francis-Brooklyn, who comes in with an identical 12-6 record on the season to kick off the day, scheduled to start at 8:15 a.m. PT. The Beach will then take on their hosts for the day, No. 14 Harvard at Noon PT, with live coverage provided by ESPN+. The Crimson are 10-4 on the year, but dipped in the rankings following a 9-6 loss to their Ivy League rivals, Princeton.
Changing locations for Sunday, the Beach will head to Providence R.I. for a pair of games. The Beach will start with Salem at 9 a.m. PT. The Tigers are currently 8-8, and hail from Bridgeport, Pa., where the majority of their programs compete in Division II.
Finally, the Beach will take on their hosts for the day in Brown at 1 p.m. PT. Just outside of the Top 20 with a record of 9-7, the Bears nearly toppled California Baptist earlier in the year. Like the Harvard game the day prior, Long Beach State's contest with the hosts will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Long Beach State has come in with a balanced scoring lead, as Rafael Real Vergara leads the way with 33 goals, but the Beach has six other players with 20 or more goals scored this season and another five in double-digits on the year.
After this weekend, the Beach will host No. 2 California and No. 1 Stanford in the team's final home games of the season before closing out the year at Pepperdine, San Jose State, LMU and UC Irvine prior to the Golden Coast Conference Tournament.
