No. 6 Men’s Water Polo Dominant In Two Wins At Gary Troyer Tournament

Next the Beach will defend their unbeaten league record at home next Saturday against Pacific.
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Long Beach State was in complete control in a pair of wins Saturday, defeating Concordia 27-8 and Fresno Pacific 25-5 at the Gary Troyer Tournament, the final tuneup before a critical Golden Coast Conference game next week.
Long Beach State (12-5) started off the day in Claremont by taking down Concordia (2-13). Rafael Real Vergara and Connor Mannion both scored in the first minute of the contest as the Beach quickly established themselves.
JJ Loubriel scored six goals in the contest and Abdelrahman Soliman netted five as Long Beach State showcased its depth while continuing to control the action. The Beach led 11-3 after the first eight minutes, and then held Concordia off the board in the second quarter while scoring eight more to lead 19-3 at halftime, and cruised to the win. Liam Ward went the distance in goal for LBSU, finishing with three saves.
Similar to the first game, Long Beach State got going quickly against Fresno Pacific (1-10). Garrett Zaan scored in the team's first possession, and after a transition goal from Connor Mannion, goals from Rafael Real Vergara and Bruno Chiappini on the power play had the Beach in front 4-0 early.
Up 8-2 at the end of the first quarter, Long Beach State for the second straight game held their opponent off the of the scoreboard even while the Sunbird defense improved, as the Beach took a 13-2 lead into the half as Raul Morales scored twice in the quarter.
Mannion led the way with four goals against Fresno Pacific, while Garrett Potter added three and Soliman scored three as well.
