Long Beach State Dominates At Beach Invite

The Beach defeats Pomona-Pitzer and Whitier to open season at Ken Lindgren Aqutics Center.
Long Beach, Calif. — Long Beach State started the 2022 season in dominating fashion with two victories during the Beach Invite on Sunday at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
The Beach defeated Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier with a combined score of 43-7.
With the opening match of the day, Marilia Mimides reintroduced herself as she scored her first of three goals to put the on the board early.
The Beach spread the ball around as ten Beach athletes found the back of the cage in the season-opening victory.
Along with Mimides making her return to the Beach, Orsi Hertzka scored a team-high five goals as the Beach defeated the Sagehens 21-4.
Hertzka and Mimides were joined by Lena Kotanchyan and Anne de Kleer who also scored hat tricks during the team's convincing win.
Kotanchyan also added a three assists and three steals.
In their final game of the day, the Beach defeated Whittier 22-3.
Kotanchyan led the team with four goals, but Mimides, Hertzka, de Kleer and Rachael Kowalchick scored three goals apiece as LBSU (2-0) jumped out to an 11-1 lead and never looked back.
Inbar Geva had a total of 10 saves throughout the day.
