• The Beach opened up conference play with a perfect 2-0 mark with wins against UC San Diego and Hawai'i last week.
Lena Silano played hero on Thursday against UCSD scoring both goals of the 2-1 victory, including the game-winner with one second left on the clock.
• On Sunday, LBSU recorded a 3-1 win over Hawaii. Silano scored her third goal of the week to open the scoring, while Kayla Cannon notched the game-winner. Alyssa Reyes also netted the first goal of her collegiate career in the 89th minute.

THE START OF BIG WEST ACTION
• With two wins last in the opening week of conference play, Long Beach State sits in a tie for third with a 2-0 record and six total points to start.
• It marks the first time that the Beach has started Big West play 2-0 since the 2015. That year, they started 3-0 before suffering a loss.

FAVORITES TO WIN IT ALL
• The Big West preseason poll was announced on Thursday, Aug. 12 and the Beach found themselves in the top spot with 106 points, edging out defending champion Cal State Fullerton by two points. In addition to the top spot in the poll, senior defender Kaitlin Fregulia was named to the preseason All-Conference Team. She was the lone Beach representative and one of just two defenders on the list.

BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• After a phenomenal week on both sides of the ball, Kaylee Ramirez was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
• On the defensive side of the ball, she led a defensive effort that allowed just seven shots on goal combined in the two games.
• Offensively, she recorded a pair of assists including the game-winning assist against UCSD. She now owns a league-leading fifth assist for the season.

SILANO GARNERS NATIONAL ATTENTION
• Junior Lena Silano has carried the Beach offense through the first ten games leading the team in points, goals, game-winners, shots, and shots on goal.
• On Thursday against UC San Diego, she notched the game-winning goal with one second left on the clock. The play earned a number two spot on Sportcenter's Top 10 plays that night.
• On a wider scale, she totaled three goals in the week and earned a Honorable Mention on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week. She is the first Beach athlete to receive the honor twice in a season since 2015.

CHASING HISTORY
• Silano is on her way to altering the record books totaling 16 points and seven goals through the first 10 games. While she attempts to chase the single-season record, the Aguora Hills native is tied for the second fastest to seven goals in program history and the third fastest to 15 points in program history.
• In 2011 when Nadia Link set the single-season record with 16 goals, she reached 15 points and seven goals in nine games.

REYES NETS HER FIRST
• Freshman Alyssa Reyes made her first two starts this last week becoming the second true freshman to join the starting eleven in a game this season. In the 88th minute against Hawai'i, she found herself on a breakaway off a Kaylee Ramirez pass and beat the keeper far-post for her first career goal.

THE BRICK WALL IN NET
Morgan Houston-Shepherd continues to be a force in goal for the Beach to start her career. The redshirt freshman recorded three more saves last week and has 43 total on the season. She leads all Big West keepers with 892 minutes in net as well as a conference-leading .796 save percentage. Her 1.110 goals against average ranks second in the conference as well.

MAURICIO'S DYNASTY
• Prior to Coach Ingrassia taking the helm of Long Beach State, the team had not had a winning record in the Big West Conference. Since he took over in 2004, the Beach has been over .500 in all but three seasons (14-of-17).
• Over the the last decade, the Beach has been a dominant force in the Big West Conference claiming four Big West Tournament titles and two regular season titles. They have been to the conference tournament finals six different times since 2010.
• Beyond the Big West Conference, Long Beach State has made their presence known nationally as well. Since 2008, the team has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances including an Elite 8 appearance in 2011. That is the furthest run by any team in the Big West.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
• UC Riverside enters the second week of conference play with a 3-6 overall record and 0-2 in Big West play. In the opening games, they lost 2-1 to UCSB and 3-0 against Cal Poly.
• The Highlanders have been outscored 18-9 thus far and outshot 123-55.
• UCR's offense is led by Alexandra Hargrave and Alexis Vera who have two goals each. Leigh Polson matches their four points with one goal and two assists.
• In net, it's primarily been Cassia Souza who has started eight of the nine games. She has totaled 38 saves and owns a .717 save percentage.
• Long Beach State leads the all-time series 10-6-5 and won the last meeting 2-0 back in 2019.

SCOUTING THE TITANS
• Cal State Fullerton had a rough start to their season, but have won four of their last five and own a 4-7 overall record and a 1-1 record in conference.
• The Titans have been outscored 20-17 through 11 games.
• Callie Petrey-Juarez leads the offense with four goals and three assists, but Karla Rodriguez is right there with four goals and one assist.
• DeAira Jackson and Noa Schumacher have split the time in goal almost 50/50. Jackson has started six games and owns a .750 save percentage while Schumacher has five starts and a .722 save percentage.
• The Beach trails the all-time series 8-13-3 and have lost four of the last six meetings. All of the games have been close battles being decided by a single goal in 10 of the last 11.
