Tyler Schafer Leading the Way for Men’s Golf After Two Rounds at the Husky Invitational

BREMERTON, Wash. – After two rounds at the Husky Invitational hosted by Washington, Long Beach State is in 10th place with a two-over par 578. The Beach are led by junior Tyler Schafer who is currently in a tie for 15th place as he is shooting 3-under par for 141.
Host Washington leads the way with 23-under par as the Huskies sit in first place. Boise State is in second place with 10-under par, while Oregon is right behind the Broncos with 9-under par for third place.
The Beach finished the first round in 13th place with a four-over par 291, but turned in a solid second round showing and shaved five strokes off their game for a 1-under par after the second 18 holes.
Schafer finished the first round shooting a 71 for 1-under par, but came back even stronger in the second round. He fired an eagle on hole 18 to highlight a solid round in which he finished with a 70 for 2-under par.
Coming in behind Schafer was freshman Steven Deutsch who currently sits in a tie for 26th after shooting 1-under par for 143. Deutsch turned in a strong collegiate debut in which he sunk four birdies in the first round and two more in the second.
Rounding out the Beach players were Clay Seeber, Isaac Rodea, and Jack Ainscough. Seeber finished the first two rounds 5-over par, while Rodea is 6-over, and Ainscough is 7-over.
Long Beach State also sent Bryce Kvick and Sebastian Vallejo to compete individually in the Husky Individual Invitational at Gold Mountain Cascade Course. The individuals are both in the top 15 after two rounds of action. There are a total of 45 individuals competing at the Husky Individual Invitational.
Kvick leads the way with a 6-under par as he sits in a tie for third place after shooting a 69 in both the first and second rounds.
Meanwhile, Vallejo is tied for 11 th place as he is shooting 2-under par. He shot 2-under in the first round, then shot even with par in the second.
Long Beach State will be back in action on Tuesday, September 21 for the final round of the Husky Invitational. Live stats will be available via GolfStat.com.
