Long Beach State will welcome incoming freshman Peppi Ramstedt from Finland in January 2022
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women's tennis coach Jenny Hilt-Costello announced the signing of a third incoming freshman for the 2021-22 season in Peppi Ramstedt, who hails from Helsinki Finland.
"We are excited to add Peppi to our 2021-22 squad when she finishes her high school degree in December," said Hilt-Costello. "Her aggressive, baseline game, and extensive doubles success will transition nicely to Division I tennis."
Ramstedt arrives in Long Beach ranked the No. 3 junior and No. 9 women's singles player in Finland. She captured the 2018 National Doubles Championship and is ranked the No. 7 women's doubles player. A UTR 9.4 rated player, Ramstedt is a U21 National Champion in doubles and finished third in the singles championships. She has also taken two ITF tournament doubles titles.
Ramsted joins two previously announced freshmen recruits, in Sheena Masuda Karrasch and Zuzanna Szczepanska, who will also be arriving for the 2021-22 season.
After opting out of defending their 2019 Big West title in 2020-21 season due to the pandemic, the Beach Tennis team looks to begin play this fall during the NCAA tennis individual season. The 2021-22 schedule is forthcoming.
