Long Beach State Completes UCR Distance Invitational

LBSU finished their first day of competition of the week as the distance runners competed at the UCR Distance Invitational.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State finished their first day of competition on the week as the distance runners participated in the UCR Distance Invitational.
Michael Simpson posted the highest finish of the day for the Beach taking home second-place in the 3000m Steeplechase. His time of 9:28.54 was a mere 0.02 seconds shy of his personal best.
Ricardo Cardenas posted a career-best in the 5000m at 15:18.01, good for a seventh-place finish.
Anitha Graves took home fourth-place in the women's 800m Run with a time of 2:15.22. Brieanna Tafoya was not far behind coming in sixth at 2:17.54.
Ryley Fick had a nice showing taking home fourth in the 3000m Steeplechase at 10:59.61. Tiana Prince came out top ten at 12:28.65 with a ninth-place finish.
Arturo Sotomayor was the only other top ten finish for Long Beach State. His time of 3:57.14 in the 1500m was good for seventh. Raymon Ornelas came in four seconds later with a time of 4:01.45 in eleventh.
Haley Adel just missed a top ten, posting a time of 18:07.69 in the 5000m Run.
Long Beach State resumes their week tomorrow as the sprinters compete at UC Riverside while the throwers compete at the Jack Rose Track.
