Long Beach State Set for Road Matchups with UC Davis, CSU Bakersfield

The Beach hit the road again, traveling to Davis on Thursday and Bakersfield on Sunday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State is set for two games this week after having the weekend off, as they travel to UC Davis for a Thursday matchup with the Aggies and a Sunday meeting at CSU Bakersfield.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Beach suffered their first loss of Big West play, falling to UC Irvine 1-0 in overtime.
• The Anteater golden goal came in the first overtime period at the 98th minute mark.
• Zora Standifer made her third consecutive start in goal and made four saves on the night.
BEST DEFENSE IN THE BIG WEST
• Statistically, Long Beach State leads the conference with a 1.00 opponent average and their 13 goals allowed is tied for the fewest thus far.
• Houston-Shepherd and Standifer have combined for the highest save percentage (.806) in the Big West. Individually, Houston-Shepherd is the league leader at .796 while Standifer owns an .833 as she works her way toward the minimum to qualify for the leaderboards.
FAVORITES TO WIN IT ALL
• The Big West preseason poll was announced on Thursday, Aug. 12 and the Beach found themselves in the top spot with 106 points, edging out defending champion Cal State Fullerton by two points. In addition to the top spot in the poll, senior defender Kaitlin Fregulia was named to the preseason All-Conference Team. She was the lone Beach representative and one of just two defenders on the list.
SILANO'S HISTORIC SEASON IN THE MAKING
• Through 13 games, Silano leads the conference in goals (9), points (20), game-winning goals (4), and ranks second in total shots (44) and shots on goals (24). Her four game-winners ranks tied for ninth in the entire nation while her nine total goals is tied for 22nd in the NCAA.
• With those numbers, she has also started etching her name into the Long Beach State record books. She owns the second-most multi-goal games in a season (3), while her four game-winning goals is tied for fifth most in a season and her nine goals is tied for ninth most.
• The Aguora Hills native is the second fastest in program history (in terms of fewest games) to 6, 7, 8, and 9 goals as well as 20 points in a season.
THE ASSIST QUEEN
• Senior Kaylee Ramirez spends most of her time on the defensive side of the ball, but has proven a crucial part of the offensive success.
• Through 13 games, the defender sits in a tie atop the Big West leaderboards with six assists on the season. It marks the most for the program since the 2015 season and she sits just two shy of entering the top ten in program history.
THE TRUE FRESHMAN IN NET
• Freshman Zora Standifer made her first ever collegiate start last week in a tough matchup on the road against UC Riverside. She lived up to the challenge keeping the Highlanders off the board for 110 minutes and recording her first career shutout.
• It awarded her a second straight start at Cal State Fullerton where she picked up her first career win and notching two saves against the Titans. The lone goal she surrendered came on a PK in the first half.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
• The Beach has accumulated four Player of the Week honors, three of which have been Defensive Players, marking the most in a single-season for the program since the 2015 season.
• In addition to the 4 Big West Conference weekly honors, Lena Silano has also earned an Honorable Mention on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week twice this season.
MAURICIO'S DYNASTY
• Prior to Coach Ingrassia taking the helm of Long Beach State, the team had not had a winning record in the Big West Conference. Since he took over in 2004, the Beach has been over .500 in all but three seasons (14-of-17).
• Over the the last decade, the Beach has been a dominant force in the Big West Conference claiming four Big West Tournament titles and two regular season titles. They have been to the conference tournament finals six different times since 2010.
• Beyond the Big West Conference, Long Beach State has made their presence known nationally as well. Since 2008, the team has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances including an Elite 8 appearance in 2011. That is the furthest run by any team in the Big West.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
• UC Davis enters the week in a tie for fourth in the Big West standings with a 3-3 record in conference play and 8-6 overall.
• The Aggies are coming off an 0-2 week with a 3-0 loss at Cal State Fullerton and a 2-1 loss at UC Riverside.
• As a team, Davis ranks third in the conference with 22 goals and 17 goals allowed. Leslie Fregoso leads the way with 5 goals and 6 assists ranking second in the Big West with 16 total points.
• In net, Nicki Rucki has started every game of the season owning a .717 save percentage.
• Long Beach State leads the all-time series 11-4-2 and owns a 25-15 goal differential. In their last 10 meetings, the Beach owns a 7-1-2 record.
