Outdoor Track And Field Kicks Off Season At Home With Beach Opener

3/5/2020 12:38:00 PM | Track and Field

Long Beach State will host two days of action starting Friday at the Jack Rose Track.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will start off the season with a bang, hosting the Beach Opener for the third consecutive season, boasting its largest field ever with nearly 1,200 athletes competing.

Long Beach State will welcome 11 University programs as well as a large collection of junior colleges and club and open athletes participating. Events on both the field and track will start early each morning at 10 a.m.

The Beach is excited to have a large senior class leading the way for a program that is looking to maintain their recent heights. The men's side is aiming at repeating as Big West Champions after taking the crown last season in 2019, while the women are looking to again climb to the top after winning the championship in 2018.

In addition to Long Beach State's competitors, student-athletes from USC, UC Irvine, Army, Pepperdine, Cal State Bakersfield and LMU will be coming to Jack Rose Track. Of note among the open participants are Sheffield Elite, which features LBSU's Director of Operations and 2019 star Courtne' Davis running both of the women's relays this weekend.

The meet program is available here, and live results will be made available at www.royalresults.com.
