LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 12 Long Beach State will be back at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on Thursday when the Beach hosts No. 23 Bucknell at 7 p.m.
LBSU (12-6) is back at home after a thrilling 6-4 conference win against UC San Diego on Saturday. In the contest, sophomore Sarah Barker scored three goals and senior Eirini Patras was stellar in the cage as she accounted for eight saves and had three steals. After her performance Patras was named the Big West player of the week, her first of the season and the second straight recipient for the Beach.
As a team, the Beach's defense held UCSD to a .153 shooting percentage and only gave one goal in the first half.
Long Beach will looks to continue that strong defensive play when they host the Bison and the nation's leading scorer Ally Furano who has 69 goals. Along with Furano, Kali Hyham has been stellar for Bucknell scoring 56 goals.
The Beach will look to get production from junior Elena Kotanchyan who leads the team in scoring with 54 goals.
This will be the second time Long Beach has faced the Bison since the Beach came away with a 17-14 victory at the Wolverine Invitational earlier this month.
