Long Beach State Closes Out Air Force Tournament Undefeated

The Beach defeat Air Force and Lindenwood on day two of Air Force Tournament.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—No. 9 Long Beach State won both games Sunday to go undefeated through the weekend beating Air Force 12-9 and Lindenwood 20-6.

Long Beach state came out victorious in their first game of the day defeating Air Force 12-9. The Beach got off to a quick start fueled by Sophomore Garrett Zaan's three goals. Sophomore Matt Morris also contributed three goals along with Senior Johnathan Wong who had two goals. Also on the score sheet were Quinten Osborne, Nemanja Bakic, Theodoros Pateros, and Austin Stewart with one goal each.

Long Beach then took on the Lindenwood Lions, defeating them 20-6 for the second game of the day. The Beach progressed offensively every quarter, outscoring the Lions 8-3 in the first half and then 12-3 in the second half.

Wong led all scorers against Lindenwood with five goals, while Osborne added three goals. Eduardo Wainberg, Aleesio Brunochelli, Zaan, Morris, and Joshua Spence contributed two goals for the win.

Goalie Andrej Bosanac helped bring the Beach to victory with 10 saves in his third start of the season against Lindenwood.

Long Beach will be back in action this weekend for the MPSF tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. The Beach is scheduled to take on UC Davis for their first game of the tournament on Friday (Sept. 27) at 2:20 p.m. The times and opponents for Saturday and Sunday will be decided by the outcomes of the other games.
