Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo Awarded Three All-Conference Selections

Freshman Orsi Hertzka, senior Tori Morrissey, and junior Eirini Patras earned All-Big West honors for Long Beach State.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – After stellar seasons, freshman Orsi Hertzka, senior Tori Morrissey, and junior Eirini Patras were all awarded All-Big West honors. Hertzka won First Team All-Big West, while both senior Tori Morrissey and junior Eirini Patras won Honorable Mention All-Big West.
Hertzka earned her First Team All-Big West recognition as a freshman and marked the first time a Long Beach State player has accomplished that feat since Eirini Patras in 2017. In addition, Hertzka also was awarded a spot in the All-Freshman team. The freshman attacker had a sensational year for the Beach as she solidified her name in the goal scoring record books. The Hungarian native posted 72 goals, 11 assists and 24 steals in her first year for Long Beach State. The 72 goals are most by any freshman in Long Beach State Women's Water Polo history. In addition, Hertzka's goal total also put her in second place for most goals scored in a single season at the Beach, behind only Stacy Black.
Morrissey being named Honorable Mention makes it her fourth merit in four years as a member of the Beach. The Australia native posted a stat line of 30 assists, 32 goals, and 17 steals in the 2019 season. In her career, the senior mustered up a grand total of 66 assists, 85 goals, and 45 steals. Morrissey's 30 assists placed her in the Long Beach State record books as well as she took control of sixth place for assists in a single season. The 66 assists for Morrissey boosted her into fifth place among career assist leaders at Long Beach State.
Patras follows in Morrissey's footsteps as she has accumulated three All-Big West accomplishments in three years. In 2019, Patras earned the Honorable Mention and jotted a stat line of 205 saves accompanied by a .480 save percentage. Adding on,
Patras also had 13 steals this season, one assist, and one goal. The junior moves up in the Long Beach State record books as well by moving in the career save leaders. From her homeland of Athens, Greece, Patras has maneuvered herself to fifth place with 482 total saves thus far in her LBSU career.
The Long Beach State Women's Water Polo team finished the season with a 16-15 record and won their final match against CSUN as they took home fifth place in the Big West Tournament.
