
LBSU T&F Scheduled to Compete in Steve Scott Invitational Friday and Saturday

UC Irvine hosts the Steve Scott Invitational this weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will compete at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine this weekend in their final preparation for the Big West Championships.
The Beach will open up Friday in the field events. LBSU will have nine competitors in the long jump, six in the women's and three in the men's, while three women's pole vaulter's will take action in the first event of the meet scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. The men and women will compete in two throwing events in the first day of competition, as the hammer and javelin will feature multiple Long Beach State student-athletes.
In Friday's competition, there will be two men and women distance races taking place in the evening, as Moises Rendon, and Tiana Prince will run in the 3,000m steeplechase. Ricky Cardenas and Trevor Stangle will compete exclusively in the men's 5,000m, as well as Mikayla Florez in the women's.
The women's 4x100m relay featuring Samaya Brandon, Courtne' Davis, Madison Golden, and Azaria Hill, will kick off the competition on Saturday at noon, and the men's team will follow. After coming off of PR's at the Beach Invitational, Melanee Williams and Erin McGuire will get another go round in the women's 100m hurdles. John Kendrick is scheduled to compete in both the 100 and 200 meters. The Beach will also have 10 athletes compete in the 1500m scheduled to begin at 4:40 p.m.
Saturday's field events will begin with the women's shotput, featuring Malia Talavou, as well as the women's discus which will have Erykah McNairy, Crystal Rodriguez, and Amanda Truong competing for the Beach. The busiest event of the day will come from the men's discus, as the Beach will have six athletes in the event. Five student-athletes will compete in the women's high jump scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m.
Competition Saturday is scheduled to finish a little after 6 p.m. with the running of the women's and men's 4x400m relays. Live results will be available at Finished Results starting Friday.
