The junior was one out away from a no-hitter in a dominant win over the Flames.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State batted around in the first inning, scoring six runs which was more than enough support for junior Ashley Coleman, who pitched her second complete game shutout of the season as the Beach took down Liberty 7-0.

Long Beach State (8-11) exploded for six runs in the first inning on the way to a big lead over Liberty (14-7). Nichole Fry and Naomi Hernandez hit back-to-back singles to start the frame and a walk to Taylor Rowland loaded the bases for Jamie Wren, who hit a sacrifice fly.

Tierra Falo was then hit to load up the bases again. Alyssa Gonzales brought home a run on a station-to-station single, and Sydney McCollum doubled into the game to bring home two more. Two further walks score another run, bringing the top of the order around as Fry had her second hit of the inning, a single up the middle for an RBI.

That was more than enough support for Coleman, who was outstanding in the circle. The junior had one ball leave the infield in a complete game shutout, and was one out away from a no-hitter until Kara Canetto was able to leg out a dribbler down the third base line.

Wren finished the day 3-for-3 with a triple, while Fry and Hernandez also both had multiple hits.

Long Beach State continues to host the Louisville Slugger Invitational with the team's busiest individual day. After a neutral game to open the day, LBSU returns to action against San Diego State at 11:30 a.m. before closing the day against Ohio at 2 p.m.
